Active Cornwall is fully committed to the principles of equality and diversity and has produced specific approaches to each.
Active Cornwall is fully committed to the principles of equality of opportunity and is responsible through its host Cornwall Council for ensuring that no job applicants, employees, workers, office holders, volunteers, participants or members are unlawfully discriminated against because of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation.
Working with Cornwall Council, Active Cornwall will endeavour to ensure that all Stakeholders are given the same opportunities, regardless of their socio-economic background, and will encourage partner organisations, local associations and clubs, suppliers, sponsors and customers to adopt and demonstrate their commitment to the principles and practice of equality as set out in its Equality Policy which is that of its host Cornwall Council (Version 2.1, updated April 2016).
Active Cornwall is firmly committed to diversity in all areas of our work. We believe that we have much to learn and profit from diverse cultures and perspectives, and that diversity will make our organisation more effective in meeting the needs of our stakeholders.
We are committed to developing and maintaining an organisation in which differing ideas, abilities, backgrounds and needs are fostered and valued, and where those with diverse backgrounds and experiences are able to participate and contribute.
Active Cornwall will adopt a target of, and take all appropriate actions to encourage, a minimum of 30% of each gender on its Board; and progress towards achieving gender parity and greater diversity generally on our Board, including, but not limited to, Black, Asian, minority ethnic (BAME) diversity and disability.
We will regularly monitor our progress towards diversity.
