Cornish Schools Leap into Action at the 2014 Sportshall Athletics Championships!

Monday 24th March 2014 saw 8 Primary Schools from across Cornwall leap into action at the 2014 Cornwall School Games Sportshall Athletics Championships.

Held at the new Sir Ben Ainslee Sports Centre at Truro School, teams from Alverton, Mylor, King Charles, St Mewan, Charlestown, Bishop Cornis, St Stephens (Saltash) and Pensans Schools took part in 12 track & field events including obstacle relay, over / under relay, speed bounce and vertical jump.

Competition was close between all teams throughout the day and with the final event to go 3 schools were 'neck and neck'.  Final results saw gold going to King Charles School, silver to Mylor School and bronze to St Mewan School.

The event organised by the Cornwall Sports Partnership is part of the 2014 Sainsbury's Cornwall School Games.  Natasha Howard, one of the event organisers from Cornwall Sports Partnership said: "This was such a fantastic day for everyone involved.  The atmosphere was amazing and it was great to see so many primary school children getting inspired to take part in activity.  We envisage this will encourage these children to take part in more sport and attend local clubs."

This year's main summer festival will be held on Friday 27th June in the Truro Area.
