2014 Cornwall Sports Funding Fair

Funding Fair 2014

Looking to run or develop a sport and leisure related project?  Discover how to unlock funding for sport & physical activity at the Cornwall Sports Funding Fair.

Organised by the Cornwall Sports Partnership, in collaboration with the Cornwall Rural Community Council (CRCC), the Cornwall Sports Funding Fair will be taking place on Wednesday 26th February 2014 between 5pm and 8pm - Fal Building, Truro College.

The event is free and will provide opportunities for discussions with a host of funders, within an informal 'drop-in' environment, plus formal presentations between 6.45pm - 8pm.

This is the third funding fair the Cornwall Sports Partnership has organised with the last event attracting over 100 people.  Funders attending the 2014 event include: Sport England, Big Lottery Fund, Cornwall Community Foundation and Sported plus much more.

Event organiser, Natasha Howard from the Cornwall Sports Partnership, said: "This event is designed to help community groups looking for funding to find out exactly what they could be eligible for and how to go about applying for it."

Funding really does make a difference - this year Saltash Sailing Club received £50,000 of National Lottery funding to extend their clubhouse, re-designing the layout, and carry out a complete refurbishment of their changing facilities allowing the creation of a combined family changing room and a disabled shower/toilet room.

Sailing Club Commodore, Bill Pym, said: "We are delighted to have secured this funding, which means we can upgrade the quality of our premises, significantly improve the ashore training environment, reduce overcrowding, and provide modern, attractive changing facilities".

Tim Marrion, Partnership Services Manager from Cornwall Sports Partnership commented "Seeing this kind of investment into Cornwall can really make a difference and inspire a generation to become physically active and take up sport".
