Set yourself the ultimate challenge this May by swimming one of the RNLI's famous coastal waterways. Take on the English Channel, the mouth of the Tamar or any other distance of your choice.

Don't worry - you won't need to enter the open water and you don't have to do it all in one go. You split the distance into lengths of your local swimming pool and keep going until you reach your target. Get your friends and family to sponsor your epic feat and feel great for making a difference this Mayday.

The RNLI is the charity that saves life at sea. They provide, on call, a 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service around the coast of UK and Ireland and a seasonal lifeguard service. RNLI lifeboats launch close to 8000 times each year and bring thousands of people to safety, while the charity's lifeguards help hundreds people each year on the many lifeguarded beaches around our coast. The RNLI is a charity - 95% of their total income comes from donations and they are separate from the Coastguard and independent of the Government so they couldn't do what they do without the generosity and support from members of the public.

The brave volunteer RNLI lifeboat crews battle the harshest conditions at sea as they selflessly go to the aid of people in distress. Having the right kit can make the crucial difference between life and death for them and the people they save.

What they do is priceless but thier kit has a cost. In 2018 the annual fundraising campaign MAYDAY will raise funds to buy kit for the lifeboats stations around the UK.
