Advice & Support For Those Who Wish To Cycle To College

Cycle to College

Building on the successful partnership with Sustrans, Truro College now offer free training sessions for students and staff who would like to explore the idea of cycling to and from college. Specifically designed for young people and adults to help develop confidence, the 2 hour cycle support sessions have been tailored to meet the individuals requirements. The session include riding routes to college and other cycling skills.

The programme was piloted in the summer, and was very well received. Andrew Price who attended one of the sessions said "I feel a lot safer on the road now and I am confident in how to control the traffic around me. This training has impacted on my cycling habits more than anything I have ever experienced before. I now cycled to college every single day."

Sustrans is working with Truro College to provide young people and staff with skills and information to allow them to make more active and sustainable journeys to the college, and is funded by the Department for Transport through the Access to Education programme, Julian Wills, College Sports Maker, said "This is one of the many activities we offer through the Health, Wellbeing and Sport programme. I am delighted with the feedback from people who have engaged in the cycle to college sessions, it demonstrates how good the delivery is and how it can have such a positive impact on people lives."
