City Golf Day a Big Success

The City Golf Day, organised by the Cornwall Golf Partnership (CGP), on Friday 20 August was a great success; with over 250 people giving golf a go.

Bringing some colour to Truro's Lemon Quay, the CGP organised a Sweet Spot Golf Simulator, an inflatable Golf Net from the Gloucestershire Golf Partnership and a portable putting green.
Passers by and shoppers were encouraged to try golf on one of the three pieces of equipment on show and it proved to be a fantastic way of increasing the awareness of golf in Cornwall.
What’s more, as a result of the success of the City Day in Truro the CGP will be holding future golf days in town centres throughout Cornwall in 2011. For these they’re hoping to work closely with local golf clubs so that people taking part in the City Days have the opportunity to then try golf for real on nearby courses.
The CGP would like to thank everyone that helped out on the day including Derek Mitchell (Perranporth Golf Club), Mark Hawkey (Treloy Golf Club), Nick Cook and Nick Tedesco (Sweet Spot Golf), Jake Leat and Rob Harrison (Cornwall Sports Partnership), Gerry Fitter and Colin Wood.
