Closing Date extended for the 2013 Cornwall Sports Awards!

Cornwall Sports Awards 2013 yellow

The closing date for nominations to the 2013 Cornwall Sports Awards has now been extended to Friday 8th September 2013

The prestigious county event will be staged at the Headland Hotel in Newquay on Friday 8th November 2013. Now in its eighth year, the event has been designed by the Cornwall Sports Partnership to recognise and honour the contributions made by dedicated sports coaches, officials, clubs, organisations, volunteers and young leaders from across the county.

The event has grown every year since it started in 2006 and is now a key date in the Cornish sports calendar. This year's ceremony has been designed to build on the success of last year's event and the Sports Partnership has already received a good number of high quality nominations. However, there are a number of sports currently being unrepresented.

Organiser Natasha Howard explains: "Although we've already received a fantastic amount of nominations for the Awards, there are still a number of sports that haven't yet received the recognition we'd expected. After the success of Team GB in the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics, we want to make sure we recognise all the great volunteers we have in Cornwall in both mainstream sport and sport for people with disabilities. That's why we thought we'd give people a little more time to make their nominations!"

You can nominate online, just click here or by contacting Natasha Howard on nhoward@cornwall.gov.uk or 01872 323347.

Make sure you don't miss the chance to recognise and reward all the hard work put in by your sports volunteers!
