Community Action Through Sport is awarded Quarter of a Million Pounds

Community Action through Sport has been awarded £256,750 from the BIG Lottery and a further £20,000 from Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales.

Meaning that the organisation is now in a very secure position for the next three years and is looking to develop in the following areas:

To have 36 CATS branches, with healthy governance, operational manuals and all promotional material. 36 branches all running an annual awards evening will see approximately 4000 youngsters a year recognised for positive community contribution!

To develop Street Paddler in 13 areas in the South West and across the UK, which will see 20% of participants taking coaching qualifications and volunteer as coaches in the community

To see 30% of schools in the South West engaged in volunteering in the school community and recognising young people

To provide 8 annual surf reward weekends for positive young people from the inner cities and give the opportunity for local youngsters to host a multi cultural experience.

To see 36 community projects run by young people, for young people.

What's even better is that all those great ideas that you have for young people in the community, they can now help to make happen!

All that CATS do is in line with the government BIG Society and PAYP (Positive Activities for Young People), and they are currently looking for people to be part of the UK steering group to help make it all happen - please let them know if you would like to be part of what we are wanting to achieve.
