Coronavirus, an update from Active Cornwall

Cornwall to host Tour of Britain

Active Cornwall Project Officer, Karen Edmond, is working to raise the profile and benefits of cycling in the county.

This year Cornwall is hosting the Grand Depart of the Tour of Britain.

British Cycling and Cornwall Tour of Britain have some great opportunities for our communities to get involved with this amazing event.

Karen's blog has more information:

Cornwall hosting the Grand Depart Tour of Britain is a great distraction from what has been a difficult first half of the year for our residents and communities due to the challenges of the Covid pandemic.

My family and many others used the lockdowns to cycle more, using some of the great trails and paths we have in Cornwall.

Schools continued, after their return to learning, to encourage their pupils and families to cycling to schools, engaging in initiatives and events that promoted cycling.

Even we as Active Cornwall held our own competition to get more people 'Out and About on their Bikes', over May Half Term Bike Week. We are about to launch our new Active Travel Logo, which you can have the first peak at later in the blog.

So, how brilliant it is for Cornwall now to have such a prestigious event in its county that hopes to inspire more people to ride their bike more often. Look to, were possible, change some car journeys with travelling by bike, all part of its legacy.

Look now at what's coming up over our week of posts providing you with some great resources and links to 'getting out and about on your bike' and seeing the fantastic international names in cycling on our Cornish roads.
