Coronavirus, an update from Active Cornwall

Could you be a Kelloggs' Swim Champion?

Try it – Enjoy it – Promote it!

Swimming pools across Cornwall are looking for volunteers to become Kellogg’s Swim Champions across the county in order to encourage more people to take up swimming and aquatics as part of a healthy lifestyle.

A Kellogg’s Swim Champion can be anyone who has a genuine passion for working with other people and can use swimming and aquatic exercise as the motivator to getting more people in their community active.

Training for the role will place on 1 October 2010 at 9am at the Dragon Leisure Centre, Bodmin. The course aims to equip the ‘champion’ to talk to their local community group, inspire and energise them, find out what sort of aquatic exercise appeals to them and then help sign post them to the right activity at the right place at the right time!

Bruce Learner, Corporate Responsibility Manager at Kellogg’s, said: “We’re aiming to train up 1000 Swim Champions around the country this year to remind people how enjoyable swimming can be and of course what good exercise it is. For many people, I believe that a friendly familiar face, a structured introduction, or re-introduction to the local pool is all the encouragement needed so that’s what we’re trying to do with this project.”
