Coronavirus, an update from Active Cornwall

First ever Corporate beach games kicks off in Newquay

Cornwall Beach Games

Later this month over 200 people from a variety of Cornish companies will be battling it out at the first ever corporate Cornwall Beach Games.

The barefoot event will be kicking off on Tolcarne Beach in Newquay at 3pm on Friday June 17, seeing 20 companies from all across Cornwall come together to compete in a series of fun and light-hearted beach-based games.

The Cornwall Beach Games has been co-organised by Cornwall College, the NHS Healthy Workplace Programme and the Cornwall Sports Partnership, to give Cornish companies the chance to have some active fun outdoors with their fellow colleagues.

Rachel Faulkner, NHS Workplace Health Coordinator, comments: "We're absolutely thrilled to be able to offer such a unique event and inject a bit of fun to the end of a working week! The Beach Games is all about having some fun with your workmates, meeting new people and getting a bit more active.

"But, the event's not just for the participants; it's going to be great fun to watch as well. Plus, we're going to have a number of sideline activities taking place so there will be plenty of opportunities for members of the public to get stuck in too!

"After months of preparation, we can't wait to see it all come together and for everyone to hit the beach!"

If you fancy going along to watch, the starting whistle will blow at 3pm and eight different games will be played throughout the afternoon, into the evening. Then the points will be tallied and the winners announced on the beach at 7.30pm.
