Coronavirus, an update from Active Cornwall

Free girls football sessions will be kicking off in the new year

Free football coaching sessions for girls kick off in January

Please note that due to the current extreme weather conditions, the Saturday sessions at both Cornwall College and Callington Community College will now commence on 16 January - not 9 January as previously advertised.

The sessions on Monday 11 January at both Poltair School and Helston Sports Centre have also been cancelled due to the weather conditions, and are due to recommence on 18 January.

Girls aged 13 to 16 across Cornwall are being offered the chance to learn or improve their football skills during free coaching sessions being offered by StreetGames, in collaboration with the Cornwall Sports Partnership.

Taking place in various locations around the county, there will be weekly sessions kicking off on Monday 4 January; 4-6pm at Poltair School in St Austell, and 6-8pm at Helston Sports Centre, which will run every Monday until 8 February. Two further sessions will also be running on Saturdays; 9-11am at Callington Community College and 2-4pm at Cornwall College in Camborne, from Saturday 9 January until 13 February.

Rob Harrison, Coaching Development Manager at the Cornwall Sports Partnership, explains: “Sessions will include a lot of fun with skill elements and games delivered by highly qualified coaches. We can guarantee that all the girls who take part will not only have a great time but will also leave the sessions at the end of the 6 weeks being able to give the boys a run for their money on a football pitch!”

Please download the below application form if you would like to take part.
