Cornwall's second Sports Funding Fair exceeded already high expectations when it attracted over 150 representatives from sports clubs and leisure organisations.

Following the massive success of a similar event ran in 2010, the Cornwall Sports Partnership organised the free evening event again, in collaboration with the Cornwall Rural Community Council (CRCC), at Truro College on Monday April 16.

Open to sports clubs or anyone looking to run or develop a sport and leisure related venture, the Cornwall Sports Funding Fair was specifically designed for attendees to find out how to access much-needed funding for their projects; through one-to-one discussions and formal presentations from various funders.

The funding organisations that attended the event included: Sport England, Sported, Big Lottery Fund, CRCC and Cornwall Community Foundation.

Event organiser, Natasha Howard from the Cornwall Sports Partnership, said:
"We're absolutely thrilled with the turn out tonight. There is a wealth of funding available and up for grabs to sports clubs, groups and organisations for an array of different ventures - for projects as little as £100 right up to those looking for tens of thousands of pounds.

"This event was designed specifically for anyone who has had trouble finding funds in the past, or who has never explored these routes before, to find out exactly what they could be eligible for and how to go about applying for it. And, from the feedback we've received, this evening has been immensely successful at signposting a lot of those people to the right stream of funding for them".
