Saturday 17th January 2015 saw the first birthday of Lanhydrock parkrun in Bodmin.

95 Runners and 13 volunteers attended the celebrations, some even in fancy dress as they took part in the 5km run around the beautiful National Trust grounds.  Volunteers are a huge part of the success of Lanhydrock parkrun.  They are the people who 'make it happen' every week.

Alice Barker, a volunteer at Lanhydrock parkrun said "Thank you to everyone who came along to celebrate Lanhydrock parkrun's first birthday on Saturday. There was lots of cake generously donated by our volunteers, including the Bodmin Women's Running Club, the Bodmin Road Runners and the wonderful team from Cornwall Sports Partnership, who also supplied the parkrun prizes. We can't imagine life without parkrun now, but it wouldn't go ahead without the amazing support and dedication of volunteers.  So please do get in touch if you could spare some time on a Saturday morning.  parkrun attracts a great group of people and we all have a lot of fun, running, volunteering or catching up in the National Trust cafe afterwards. We're really looking forward to doing it all again in 2015".

Over the last 12 months parkrun at Lanhydrock has seen an average of 92 runners per week with almost 24,000 km being covered.

Lewis Sanders, Project Co-ordinator at Cornwall Sports Partnership said "it is fantastic to see how well the parkrun at Lanhydrock has succeeded over the past 12 months. To see nearly 100 people here every week no matter what the weather it has been an amazing achievement to all the volunteers each week who make it happen."

Tamar Lakes was the second parkrun to be established back in October 2014 in Cornwall.  This Saturday saw 58 runners take part along with 9 volunteers 'making it happen'.

Following the success of Lanhydrock & Tamar Lakes parkrun, we are pleased to announce a NEW parkrun will be available at Penrose Estate with a start date expected before the end of January!
