One in 10 Brits now make extra money to supplement their yearly wage by running microbusinesses based on their favourite hobbies, new research* has found.

'Hobby entrepreneurs' are making thousands of extra pounds from setting up small part-time businesses in design, beauty, photography. And the world of sport is no different - this week the RFL announces its 2015 licensee programme for those looking to make a few pennies from their love of the sport.

38-year-old Lynn Hampson has earned almost £3,500 over the past year, "Becoming a Play Touch Rugby League Licencee has so many benefits, you get to host a fantastic competition every week and could potentially earn over £3000 while having fun doing it!  It's a brilliant way to earn some extra money!" said Lynn.

Katie Mann from Scunthorpe Touch RL has earned herself £1,200 in 2014 after buying into the RFL Play Touch Rugby League licence package. Katie said: "For just one evening's work each week over 10 weeks in the summer, I've been able to earn a really helpful extra bit of money. I have chosen that the money will go back into the club to help develop the programme over the winter, it's a great and fun way to earn money.

"The resources and branding provided by the RFL has allowed me to run Play Touch Rugby League with a professional look and feel. From the equipment and marketing materials to the online resources, they have all added real value to the programme. We've had around 60-65 participants per week."

In Gillingham, Kent, 42-year-old pub owner Kris Orme has combined his business with the sport he loves. "I became a licensee because I wanted to get more people in the South of England playing Rugby League, a sport I love! I thought it would be a fun thing to do in my spare time too.

"I looked forward to running the session every week and it's been great for my business too because afterwards all of the players always come back to my pub!"

Play Touch Rugby League is a minimal contact version of Rugby League based on fun, fitness and friends.
