Local shoppers inspired to serve up a racket and hold court
Truro’s Lemon Quay was the stage for a frenzy of badminton activity on Monday as No Strings Badminton smashed its way into the local shoppers' day out.
Over 300 local shoppers all expressed interest in No Strings Badminton, a fresh new initiative that makes it simple and extremely sociable for more people to welcome the benefits of badminton back into their lives. Four Cornwall leisure centres are offering weekly No Strings Badminton opportunities for adults 16plus to come back to the sport or try something different, convenient and without the need for commitment.
As part of exciting new website Get Active Cornwall’s ‘Activity of the Month’, and with the help of the Cornwall Sports Partnership, alongside local badminton and multi-sports coaches, both existing and new badminton players took to the purposely laid-out court in the heart of the Lemon Quay during the glorious Cornwall Monday sunshine.
BADMINTON England Regional Officer for Cornwall, Tim Jones expressed his delight at the success of the promotional event saying, “throughout the day hundreds of passers-by witnessed something different in their town centre – the badminton court was constantly filled with people of all ages wishing to have a go at badminton. Badminton is one of the most participated sports nationally for adults in England and this event has certainly exposed badminton as a fun and friendly sport for everyone to try.”
