Coronavirus, an update from Active Cornwall

Penwith College & Penzance Tennis Club create new FREE Tennis opportunities

Students from Penwith College will be given the opportunity to participate in free tennis sessions as part of a new partnership created between the Penwith College 'Health, Wellbeing and Sport Team' and Penzance Tennis Club. The new joint working will see Tuesday evening and Saturday morning tennis sessions being offered to Penwith College students, and an opportunity to receive coaching support if desired.

The sessions, which are aimed at all levels of ability, will be delivered by coaches from Penzance Tennis Club. All equipment will be provided, and no charge will be made to participate.

The initiative forms part of the wider 'Health, Wellbeing and Sport' project, which sees Penwith College working in partnership with the local community, supporting young people to access sport and physical exercise. The Health, Wellbeing and Sports programme targets non-sporty students attending Truro and Penwith College, and offers free physical activity sessions several times a day. The project helps young people to choose healthier lifestyles, with many participants carrying on their newly found interest at local clubs or leisure centres.

Julian Wills, Truro and Penwith College Sports Maker said "I am delighted to be working in partnership with Penzance Tennis Club, they have great volunteers and are offering brilliant opportunities for our students at Penwith College."

The free student sessions take place at the Penzance based clubs courts on Tuesday evenings 6pm to 7.30pm, and on Saturday mornings 10am to 11.30am. For more information please contact Mark Stevens, College Sport Activator, on
