Coronavirus, an update from Active Cornwall

Playground to Podium Athletics CAAD a Success

On Thursday 22 April the Cornwall Sports Partnership and Cornwall’s Competition Managers delivered a successful County Athlete Assessment Day at Carn Brea Leisure Centre.

Athletes from across Cornwall came together to take part in a day of coaching and competition on the outdoor athletics track at Carn Brea.

Some of the disciplines the athletes took part in were Javelin, Shot put, High Jump, Long Jump and Running.

There were some fantastic achievements on the day with many superb individual performances leading to podium results and medals around necks.

Steve Hillman from the Cornwall Sports Partnership said: “This is a fantastic event coupled with many great performances and truly inspiring achievements from today’s athletes”.

Job King, from UK Athletics, attended the event and brought with him a track racing chair which Kyle Jordan from Launceston Community College took advantage of for the first time and delivered a superb performance for the 400m race.

Special thanks go to Mo Pearson for all her help on the day and to the Sports leaders from Camborne College and Truro College for their help and involvement; also to the teachers on the day who accompanied the athletes.
