Record Numbers Attend The 2014 Cornwall Sports Funding Fair

Cornwall Sports Funding Fair 2014

Cornwall's third Sports Funding Fair exceeded already high expectations last week when it attracted over 250 representatives from sports clubs and leisure organisations from across Cornwall.

Following the massive success of the previous event in 2012, the Cornwall Sports Partnership organised the free evening event again, in collaboration with the Cornwall Rural Community Council (CRCC), at Truro College on Wednesday 26th February 2014.

Open to sports clubs or anyone looking to run or develop a sport and leisure related venture, the Cornwall Sports Funding Fair was specifically designed for attendees to find out how to access much-needed funding for their projects; through one-to-one discussions and formal presentations from various funders.

The funding organisations that attended the event included: Sport England, Cornwall Community Foundation, Big Lottery Fund, Sported, BBC Children in Need and to name a few.

Event organiser, Natasha Howard from the Cornwall Sports Partnership, said: "This event was designed to help organisations find out exactly what funding they could be eligible for and how to go about applying for it. From the feedback we've received, the evening has been immensely successful at signposting people to the right stream of funding for them.  We now look forward to seeing an increase in the number of successful funding applications from groups in Cornwall."

Diane Taylor from Cornwall Rural Community Foundation, one of many funders who attended the event said:  "It was a very busy and very popular evening.  We met lots of new groups that we look forward to working with in the very near future".
