Coronavirus, an update from Active Cornwall

Run Cornwall is a Running Success!

Run Cornwall

Run Cornwall has recently welcomed its 1000th member to its successful running project in Cornwall.  Now in its third year, this milestone is a massive achievement for everyone who takes part.

Run Cornwall is an England Athletics community based running project, managed by the Cornwall Sports Partnerships. It gives everyone an opportunity to begin running for fun and fitness.  Run Cornwall members enjoy getting active whilst having fun and making new friends in a safe, friendly environment. Running is made accessible and available for everyone - men, women, mixed groups and families of all ages, shapes, sizes and abilities with the help of trained leaders.

As well as over 1000 runners taking part, Cornwall Sports Partnership are ensuring the project becomes sustainable by training 200 people as Leaders in Running Fitness to make ensure that all 50 groups in the county are run by qualified people.

Lewis Sanders from the Cornwall Sports Partnership who manages the project said "It is fantastic to reach this milestone.  It has been great to hear some of the stories of why people took that first step and where they are now."

"We have got nearly 50 groups all over the county and within workplaces to make running even more accessible to anyone who would like to take that first step."

On the back of this success, it is great news that Cornwall Sports Partnership has recently been awarded some funding to continue for a further 12 months with the Run Cornwall programme.

"I would personally like to thank all of the clubs and the leaders that have helped make this project a success and to continue with all the hard work that I know they put in"

They will be looking to use this funding to help towards funding more run leaders, incentives for leaders and runners as well as supporting all running groups across the county.
