Coronavirus, an update from Active Cornwall

Samba ROC comes to Cornwall

An exciting new opportunity for budding Samba players is starting in Redruth next month. Robert Owen Communities (ROC), a registered charity which offers opportunities to people with learning disabilities, is running Saturday morning sessions at the Murdoch and Trevithick Centre beginning on 13th November.

The organisation already runs a very successful band based at the Palace Theatre in Paignton. Known as Samba ROC, the group is in great demand and currently plays around 50 gigs a year in different parts of the country.

The new Cornwall band is open to all and we particularly encourage those with disabilities to come along and have a go. ROC’s mission is to help people be what they want to be. As well as allowing people to express themselves creatively, the samba sessions will be a great way to meet new people and have some fun.

All equipment will be provided and the two hour sessions will be run by experienced staff. For more details contact Debbie Evans on 01872 560530 or email debbie.evans@roc-uk.org
