Coronavirus, an update from Active Cornwall

Say thank you to those amazing volunteers behind the scenes making sport happen!

2016 Cornwall Sports Awards

Every club has one!  An amazing volunteer who works tirelessly each week behind the scenes making sport happen.

Whether its organising fixtures, cleaning the kit, making the teas, updating websites, preparing the ground and equipment or attending committee meetings, they are there!

This is the perfect time to say thank you, just give 10 minutes of your time to show your appreciation and give them the recognition they deserve by nominating them in the 2016 Cornwall Sports Awards.

Natasha Howard from the CSP explains: "Volunteers are the back bone of helping people stay active in Cornwall.  There are some amazing volunteers that selflessly give their time to enable others to participate.  This is a great opportunity to say thank you to them for all they do"

One such volunteer is Jeanette Coleman - Fixtures & Umpires Secretary at Falmouth Hockey Club & Secretary of Cornwall Hockey Association.  Jeanette was the Cornwall Sports Partnership's Volunteer of the Month for January 2016 and has been nominated for the 2016 Cornwall Sports Awards.

Jeanette Coleman

Jeanette has been the driving force behind Falmouth Hockey Club for years. She works hard to establish the junior section and works tirelessly to try to ensure as many people as possible can participate in Hockey.

She is involved in ordering kit, getting sponsorship, organising umpires, building relationships with the schools, and all those little jobs that someone has to do to ensure the smooth running of the club.

Falmouth Hockey Club would not be as successful as it is and has been, if it were not for all the hard work that Jeanette willingly does year on year.

Barbara Reynolds, England Hockey Relationship Managers said: "Jeanette is a stalwart for Cornish Hockey she works quietly behind the scenes ensuring that Falmouth Hockey Club grows from strength to strength as well as passionately supporting the Cornish Hockey family in her role as County Secretary.  Volunteers are the lifeblood of our sport and Jeanette is an outstanding role model for volunteering".

The deadline for nominations Wednesday 7th September 2016, so now's the time to make your nomination!

If you know somebody who does great things for sport in your local community, why not say thank you and give them the recognition they truly deserve.
