School Pool Project Helped By River Cottage Team

Pupils at Perranporth School are hoping to receive a boost to fundraising efforts for their school pool as their Community Swimming Project is launched on the UK's biggest crowd source funding website

'We can help each other' is the tag line on the new website from the makers of River Cottage, Hugh's Fish Fight and Chicken Out! which brings together individuals with fresh ideas and is a way for charities to raise funds in a relatively short space of time. Crowd funding is used to raise essential financial backing to get exciting new projects such as Perranporth Community Swimming Pool off the ground.  Investors can pledge support from as little as a pound and pledges can earn rewards from the project owner such as family swim session (5) or two hour hire of the pool (£50). If the Pool Project doesn't hit its target, it won't hit you in the pocket.

"  gives people the means to take their ideas forward. That, in a nutshell, is why, I'm excited about," says TV food campaigner Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall.

The Friends of Perranporth School intend to renovate the forty year old, unheated, outdoor school swimming pool and turning it into a indoor heated, modern facility with excellent disabled facilities that can be used by the whole community.
