Tesco Charity Trust Community Awards

Tesco Charity Trust Community Awards

One-off grants up to £2,500 for youth, health and environmental projects. Spring 2015 round now open (application deadline 24 April)
Local charities and not-for-profit groups working locally throughout the UK to support health, opportunities for young people or environmental sustainability projects can apply now for a grant from the Tesco Charity Trust Community Awards programme.

Projects should take place within a community that has or is close to a Tesco store.

Funding is normally offered twice a year and is aimed at projects that provide practical benefits, such as equipment and resources.

Registered charities and not for profit organisations may apply for one-off grants between £500 and £2,500.

PLEASE NOTE: organisations that have received an award within the last 3 years are not able to apply to the Spring 2015 round.

For the year ending 22 February 2014, the Trust's charitable expenditure was £7.55 million. However, only £600,000 is available in this round, meaning that between 240 and 1,200 awards are likely to be made.

Examples of projects that could receive a grant include:
o Improving diets and encouraging healthy eating, or
o Involvement in sport and physical activity.

Opportunities for Young People
o Education and training programmes which develop key skills that prepare young people for work, no matter what career they want to pursue;
o Support to vulnerable, disengaged groups and young people in long term unemployment;
o Learning programmes for young people with disabilities; or
o Access to information, skills and opportunities young people need to start successful careers.

Environmental Sustainability
o Helping people to reduce the amount of food they throw away at home;
o Helping people to recycle more or save more energy or water;
o Local eco initiatives in the community that contribute to global environmental impact;
o Projects that encourage sustainable living, or
o Wildlife conservation projects.

The deadline for applications is midnight on Friday 24 April 2015.
