The Great British Week of Sport 2020
ukactive are launching the first edition of the Great British Week of Sport from Saturday 19th September to Sunday 27 September, to celebrate the power that sport and activity has on our physical, mental and social wellbeing.
Numerous events will take place each day across the week to help encourage and inspire the public to take up physical activity in whichever form inspires them. Plenty of providers are on board with the campaign to lend their skills and experience to help get people moving. Some of the activities include 'A Girls Night In' theme where influencers and DJs will be involved, Les Mills fitness sessions, an Ordnance Survey challenge to get people outside and active as well as promoting tools like the 'Couch to 5k' and 'Active 10' apps throughout the week long celebrations. People can use the #BeActive on social media to showcase what they are doing throughout the week with the hope that this will inspire others to try some physical activity.
Everyone can get involved with this as there is such a variety of activities to chose from. During this time, it is especially important for children and young people to stay active for their mental and physical health and wellbeing. Schools can promote this event to their pupils and get them active at school or at home with their families, encouraging them to achieve their physical activity recommendations of 60 minutes each day.
