Coronavirus, an update from Active Cornwall

Tremough 2013 Community Games

Join in the fun at the Tremough 2013 Community Games on Saturday 27 April 2013

The Tremough 2013 Community Games are fast approaching and the students of the Falmouth and Exeter Students' Union (FXU) are excited to be hosting what they hope will be the largest campus- based community event this year.

In the hope of encouraging everyone to get active, try something new and keep the Olympic legacy in Cornwall alive, an open invitation is extended to all to come up to the Tremough Campus, which is shared and jointly managed by Falmouth University and the University of Exeter, between 12 noon and 4pm on Saturday 27 April and join in with all the fun.

The day has already attracted a great deal of interest and support from local businesses, charities and community groups wanting to get involved, and promises to be the ultimate family day of culture and sport.

On the day, there will be a festival style showcase of a wide range of sports, offering interactive activities, taster sessions and exhibits to students and the local community, organised by FXU volunteers.

Attractions will include a dry ski slope and a climbing wall, circus skills demonstrations and workshops, zumba classes and a two-mile fun run for all the family.

Everything will be free and there will be plenty to see and do for those who prefer to spectate too.

"We are keen to cater for a wide audience and are extremely excited at the amount of interest we have already generated from local businesses, charities and community groups," explains FXU Vice President Participation and member of the organising committee, Kasia Drinkwater.  "We want as many people as possible to come up to Tremough, try something new and have a great day."

"We have been into local schools raising awareness of this incredible opportunity to experience the many skills and sporting opportunities that Cornwall has to offer," adds Elly Jones, the third-year Falmouth University BA(Hons) Creative Events Management student who is also team leader for the event.   "We're looking forward to seeing everyone on the day, come rain or shine!  There will be plenty to see and do, whatever the weather."

It is not too late for other local businesses, charities and community groups to get involved in the Tremough 2013 Community Games.  Anyone interested in adding something to this unique, exciting event is invited to email .
