Truro Rugby Club's O2 Touch Rugby Team Play at Twickenham
Truro Rugby Club's O2 touch rugby team have been involved in a once-in-a-lifetime experience when they played in a tournament held at Twickenham Stadium on Sunday 12th April. The opportunity to participate in the national tournament came as a reward for the excellent level of organisation of the centre since its registration as an O2 Touch Centre in October last year. "We're growing in numbers all the time", said O2 Touch Ambassador, Lee Missons. "The opportunity to play in this tournament and on that famous pitch is a fantastic recognition of our efforts and we have all come away with some amazing memories."
Touch Rugby is one of the fastest growing sports in England, played by people of all ages and skill levels. "It was introduced from the Southern hemisphere where it is enormously popular," said Lee, "and it is now becoming more popular here in the UK." In a nutshell, touch rugby is rugby with the contact taken out. There are no scrums, rucks, or line outs and the tackle is replaced by a touch. It emphasizes running, agility, passing, teamwork and communication. It is both enormous fun and a great way to either get fit or stay fit.
