Squash - a hard game played on a damp dreary court in the coldest of winter in a squash club without any atmosphere. I reckon that would sum up a huge number of peoples opinions of the game.

How far from the truth can a perception be - in fact did you know that England are the best in the world at squash? It's true, our mens and womens teams are World Champions!

In Cornwall Newquay, Truro, Bude and Falmouth are leading the way in revitalising squash by offering juniors and adults the opportunity to play competitively or indeed on a social basis. These clubs have thriving junior set ups, club nights and teams playing in the respective Cornish leagues and competitions.
Squash is unquestionably an energetic sport that can burn up to 750 calories per hour. It was recently voted (according to Google) the number one health sport ahead of rowing!

Racketball is a more recent addition to squash clubs. Racketball is played with a much bouncier ball, therefore gives the players an opportunity to have longer rallies. Racketball is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK, and as well as being a great game for experienced squash players, Racketball is a perfect introduction for people looking to play a fun and competitive sport.

A forty minute Racketball match is also a fantastic cardio-vascular workout, for players of all abilities!

Within Cornwall we have established squash clubs running at Bude, Falmouth, Newquay, Truro, Penzance, Torpoint, Bodmin, Saltash, Culdrose and St.Mawgan, with other facilities offering the opportunity to play throughout the county.

Mini squash clubs are running out of Fowey, Truro, Falmouth, Bude and Newquay.

The County is represented at junior level with under 13, 15 and 17 sides. At an adult level we have senior county sides and over 35 and 45 sides that compete throughout the country.

The cost of playing squash will vary depending on which club and club policy. Typically courts will cost in the region of £3 - £5 per hour to book. Some clubs operate a member's only policy, but normally offer a prospective member the opportunity to 'have a go' first. So its well worth checking beforehand if you can.
