Active Lives Survey
Children and Young People in Cornwall
The Sport England Active Lives Survey helps us to better understand pupils’ levels of participation and attitudes to sport and physical activity to help them move more. It has been running since September 2017 and Active Cornwall is responsible for working with schools in Cornwall to help them to complete it
About the Active Lives Survey
The Sport England Active Lives Survey is an online national survey that the government uses to understand how children aged 5-16 engage with sport and physical activity, and the data they gather plays a key role in informing future policy and funding decisions.
Sport England launched the school-based Active Lives Children and Young People Survey in September 2017 in response to the Government’s 2015 strategy ‘Sporting Future’.
Active Cornwall is responsible for working with schools in Cornwall to complete and take part in the survey each term. Schools taking part are able to learn more about their pupil’s engagement in sport and physical activity. Enabling them to compare against national data and further understand the needs and interests of their pupils.
A sample of schools are selected each term to complete the survey, but any and all schools in Cornwall can opt-in during the academic year. The sample is designed to achieve a response rate of 300 responses per local authority.
