Number of respondents in Cornwall:
- 2019/20 = 562 (during coronavirus pandemic)
- 2018/19 = 1,082
- 2017/18 = 853
Social inequalities has led to:
- only 49% of young people in Cornwall currently meeting the recommended level of physical activity every week
- 30% are classed as inactive (achieving under 30 minutes)
The main challenge is that a positive attitude towards sport and physical activity is decreasing.
Nationally, the achieved sample of year 3-11 and parents of year 1-2 was 109,503 in academic year 2017/18, 113,728 in academic year 2018/19 and 89,303 in Academic Year 2019/20. It should be noted that it was nationally acknowledged that participation in the survey during the pandemic was reduced due to many different challenges faced by education settings and families.
The Active Lives Survey was launched in September 2017. All national and Cornwall data can be downloaded in various reports and graphs by visiting the Sport England Active Lives Data Website.
