Connect and Conquer Parkinson’s Event

Bringing together people living with Parkinson’s was the key aim of an event held this January in Penzance.

Exercise and activity providers with a special interest in the condition were also welcomed along to the session from 1-3pm at the town’s leisure centre.

The event was organised by Active Cornwall and the NHS Parkinson’s Service and provided an opportunity to try out taster sessions of activities.

A range of providers delivered 10 minute exercises, which was followed by 10 minutes of questions for those leading the sessions.

Rob Harrison, from Active Cornwall, said: “Members of the public were invited to talk to us about what providers need to do to help patients – and how patients can help providers.

“These tips were shared to help ‘conquer being active’ and gave a chance for everyone who came along to connect and network.”

Later in the afternoon a separate session was held for activity providers offering dedicated training.
