PE Primary Subject Cluster Coordinator
Role outline

To coordinate and manage a cluster of primary school subject leads within the Duchy in order to promote a collaborative approach to the development of the subject curriculum and pedagogy.

  1. To work in partnership with the Cornwall Council’s School Effectiveness team to lead the planning, delivery and evaluation of the subject cluster meetings.
  2. Establish and promote the identity of the subject cluster.
  3. Attend a termly planning meeting with Cornwall Council’s School Effectiveness team.
  4. Organise and manage a termly twilight subject cluster meeting within the academic year.
  5. Contribute to the collective ethos of education settings working in partnership across the Duchy in order to support high quality outcomes for children and young people in Cornwall.
    The Subject Cluster Coordinator specification:
  6. Be a subject specialist with at least three years teaching experience.
  7. Have experience of subject leadership or an aspect of it.
  8. Demonstrate excellent knowledge and understanding of their subject including content knowledge and pedagogy.
  9. Have a good understanding of The Education Inspection Framework (as applicable to his/her subject), The National Curriculum and The Teachers Standards.
  10. Have an awareness of the importance of securing effective transition from primary to secondary school.
  11. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support the facilitation of a collaborative learning culture.
  12. Be a reflective practitioner who engages with evidence informed practice.
  13. Experience of leading mentoring and/or coaching others to support professional development would be an advantage.

The subject cluster coordinator role will be for an initial period of March 2022 – 31st July 2023. Each school will receive £500 to cover the subject cluster coordinator’s planning and preparation time. For more information please contact
