Our Values

The School Games Values are an incredibly important element of the Cornwall School Games and underpin the programme. These values were developed by young people to recognise how the experience of sport should be epitomised and embodied within schools, and to reflect the ‘spirit’ of the School Games.  Those schools who demonstrate the School Games Values of respect, teamwork, honesty, passion, self-belief and determination during the events will be recognised by their peers and with enough recognition, could receive a Whirlwind Cornwall School Games Value Award.

Giving it 100%, putting your heart and soul into the game and never giving up. Passion makes you enter the race and passion makes you finish it.

You've got to believe to achieve. Have the self-belief and confidence to succeed and reach your personal best.

For the referee, for the opposition, for your team mates, for yourself and for The Game. Accepting victory and defeat with grace, treating others politely and with understanding. Respect every day, in every sport and for everyone.

With others and with yourself. Have the courage to do the right thing and what you know is right. Let the best person win, not the best cheat!

Never giving up on trying to achieve your goals. Putting in 100% even at difficult times and being the very best they can be.

Treating everyone equally, supporting each other and working together to have fun and achieve. Celebrate each other's success and be a positive team player.

Think more about everyday choices to help the planet.

Throughout the academic year, schools who attend Cornwall School Games events can vote for other schools who demonstrate one or more of the seven School Games Values.

Each vote goes towards an overall number of votes that will be counted at the end of the year.

For each of the values, a primary and a secondary school with the most votes for the individual value will then be awarded a Whirlwind Cornwall School Games Value Award which will be presented at the annual PE, School Sport and Physical Activity Conference, hosted by Active Cornwall.

If you have attended a Cornwall School Games Festival or Games Day (County, Area or Cluster), please scan the QR code or follow the link on the poster and vote for a school you think deserves to be nominated.
