The Rights of the Child

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child is the most complete statement of children’s rights ever produced and is the most widely-ratified international human rights treaty in history. Active Cornwall is committed to recognising and working in such ways that reflect the UNCRC, and encouraging other organisations to do the same.

The Convention has 54 articles that cover all aspects of a child’s life and set out the civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights that all children everywhere are entitled to. It also explains how adults and governments must work together to make sure all children can enjoy all their rights.

We actively promote the Child’s Right to Play as part of our mission to remove barriers and ensure all children can benefit from an active lifestyle. But we also support children’s rights by trying to involve them in decisions, practising and promoting safeguarding, incorporating arts and culture into programmes such as the School Games and the Time2Move Holiday Activity Programme and much more.
