Working together to tackle inequalities at the 2022/23 Cornwall PE, School Sport & Physical Activity Conference

On Tuesday 29th November, at the Penryn Campus, Falmouth University, we delivered the successful PE, SS&PA conference and had over 120 delegates attend.

We delivered a virtual conference in 2020 and talked about the power of PE, SS&PA during and in the recovery from Covid. This year we want to build on that and titled the conference ‘Tackling Inequalities in PE, SS&PA by re-connecting, re-engaging and re-embedding’.

We know the inequalities are on the rise in Cornwall with over 15,000 children eligible for benefits related free school meals and the number of children who do less than 30 minutes of physical activity per day rising 8.8% to 25,600 children, our highest population group.

The conference organisers have put together an excellent programme to help you do this, bringing together some of the sectors leading professionals and inspiring keynote speakers to support you in your delivery of PE&SS, raise the profile of the impact that PE&SS can have in your school and most importantly address those stubborn inequalities.

For this we need to say a huge thank you to Lewis Pascoe from Active Cornwall, Emma Moore from Poltair School and Julie Ponting from Arena.

Finally, I would like to say a huge thank you to Falmouth University who have given up their facilities today for us to utilise and deliver this event for you in such an inspiring environment, and to AGAME Sports and Elemental UK for their continued support.

Resources from the conference are now available on our website
